Establishing Expectations

I've had to prepare several portfolios in my previous English classes and am expecting to follow the same guidelines for the one I am required to prepare for this one. I am expecting that my strongest assignments will be my reflective/blog writing and my web portfolio, because this is where I hold most experience. The poster presentation and internship work, however, I expect to be the areas that I might have more challenges. This is because I have not had as much experience with either if these and might need to spend more time on them.

In most of my previous English classes the concentration was preparing and editing pieces of work and putting them together in an evaluation portfolio in order to track my progress throughout the class. This experience will help me with both the writing and porfolio assignments. However, these classes didn't fully prepare me for dealing with situations that might arise within a work related environment, nor have I had many opportunities to prepare a visual presentation. Therefore, these assignments containing these elements will be more of a challenge for me.

  1. Your concern about "dealing with situations that might arise within a work-related environment" is an important one. I hope you'll use the blog as a space in which to describe some of those situations and to discuss your strategy for negotiating these situations. Hopefully, too, you'll be able to connect our course readings to some of your blogging about how to manage these workplace situations.
